Captain Rick’s ‘SMILE’ … Flickr taught me how to greet people in every language

Captain Rick: Each day when I am on Flickr tending to my photos and photo groups, I am greeted by the Flickr team in a different language, when my mouse hoovers over my icon. Over the past many months I think I have received a greeting in every language spoken in every country on earth. It has been very educational.

Today I received a new greeting in a language I readily recognized. It is spoken by many of my friends that I meet on my daily morning walks. I congratulate the Flickr team for the huge smile that emerged upon my face when they greeted me with this today…

As a Flickr pioneer (paying member since January 2007), I appreciate the Flickr team for their great support and refinement over the years, especially the recent, totally new, awesome look and feel of Flickr. Your diligent efforts have propelled Flickr to become the most respected, quality home for photographic sharing.

Humor Break: Republicans & Democrats … Man in a boat & Woman in a hot air balloon

Captain Rick: A couple in a hot air balloon realized they were lost. They spotted a couple in a boat below and lowered their altitude so they could shout to each other. The following conversation took place …

Lady in balloon: “Excuse me, can you help us? I promised a some friends we would meet them an hour ago, but we don’t know where we are at.

Man in boat: The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, “You’re in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a water elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and
100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.”

Lady in balloon: She rolled her eyes and said, “You must be a Republican.”

Man in boat: “I am. How did you know?”

Lady in balloon: “Well, everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I’m still lost. Frankly, you’ve not been much help to me.”

Man in boat: The man smiled and responded, “You must be a Democrat.”

Lady in balloon: “I am. How did you know?”

Man in boat: “Well, you don’t know where you are or where you’re going. You’ve risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your  problem. You’re in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it’s my fault.”

FISCAL CLIFF: Cartoon Break

Captain Rick: While the Fiscal Cliff is a very important event that will descend upon the U.S. and effect most Americans on January 1, 2013, I urge everyone to take a break from all of the hype presented on TV, radio and the internet to enjoy a little “Fiscal Cliff” humor.

As I mentioned in Captain Rick’s Fiscal Cliff Course 101: Lesson 3, the “Fiscal Cliff” could have been better labeled the “Fiscal Slope” to better economic times.
